What Is The Pretty Hat Project?
The Pretty Hat Project is a national wig drive dedicated to helping women who are suffering from hair loss due to cancer. This drive will allow patients and survivors to regain their spirits as looking for and purchasing wigs are actions they no longer have to worry about.
Why Did You Start This Project?
I started this project because of my own family history and personal experiences with the women I’ve known and lost due to cancer. The PHP honors them all. During the time in which they had to receive chemotherapy treatments, most asked for head wraps, scarfs, and wigs. Scarfs and headwraps are the easiest to purchase, but wigs are a bit harder just due to the fact that women are usually particular about them and many wigs are expensive. When these women receive the wigs, however, they start to feel more like themselves and gain their spirits back.
Meet Kennedi, a high school senior and founder of The Pretty Hat Project. After seeing how a cancer diagnosis affected so many women in her life, Kennedi wanted to make sure that women undergoing chemotherapy had a source for high-quality wigs, headscarves, and headwraps.
